Ingredientes

  • 3 active dry yeast
  • 2 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup non-fat powdered milk
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 6 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 1/2 cup American cheese
  • 1 1/4 cup Velveeta cheese
  • 1 cup butter

Preparacion

Siga los pasos en orden para obtener el mejor resultado.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Allow it to sit for about five minutes, or until it starts to bubble and activate.
  2. Add the sugar, oil, and powdered milk to the yeast mixture. Using a paddle attachment on your mixer, combine these ingredients on low speed.
  3. Switch to a dough hook attachment. Gradually add the flour and salt. Knead the dough for approximately 8 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball. Place each ball into a separate bowl that has been lightly coated with cooking spray or oil, placing the smooth side down first, then turning it so the smooth side is facing up and coated with oil. Cover each bowl with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size. Set aside the plastic wrap for later use.
  5. Lightly spray or oil a half sheet pan (17 x 12 x 1 inch). On the prepared pan, stretch one ball of dough evenly to cover the edges and slightly above.
  6. Top the stretched dough with sliced cheese and any other desired fillings.
  7. Take the second ball of dough and stretch it out on a counter next to the tray, forming a rectangle that is slightly smaller than the tray's dimensions.
  8. Carefully pick up the stretched dough (it should stretch further to approximately the size of the tray as you lift it) and place it over the top of the cheese layer.
  9. Gently, being careful not to disturb the cheese, stretch and pinch the edges of the top layer to the bottom layer, sealing the edges well.
  10. Cover the prepared sandwich lightly with plastic wrap and allow it to rest until it has doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes to an hour.
  11. Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 18-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Rotate the tray about 3/4 of the way through the baking time for even browning.
  12. Remove the baked sandwich from the oven and brush the top with butter. Let it cool for several minutes before slicing and serving.
