  • 1 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 90 g unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup malibu liqueur
  • 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold milk
  • 2 tablespoons cold milk
  • 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons Malibu rum, liqueur
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 ounces chocolate, melted
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Method

Follow the steps in order for the best result.

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the cake flour, baking soda, and salt. Sift these ingredients together to ensure they are well incorporated. Set the bowl aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, preferably using an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. This may take a few minutes.
  4. Incorporate the cooled, melted chocolate and vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture. Beat for approximately 3 minutes until everything is thoroughly combined.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing, and then beat for an additional 3 minutes.
  6. Gradually introduce the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) into the wet ingredients in three separate additions. Alternate each addition with the warm water, mixing for about 1 minute after each addition to ensure the ingredients are well combined.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the batter onto the prepared sheet and use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 20 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean. This indicates that the cake is fully baked.
  9. Allow the cake to cool completely before proceeding with the next steps.
