Follow the steps in order for the best result.
In a large skillet, combine the minced garlic, chopped onion, diced bell pepper, and ground beef (or ground turkey). As the meat browns, sprinkle it generously with hamburger seasoning mix to infuse it with flavor.
Once the meat is browned, transfer the mixture from the skillet to your crock pot. Set the crock pot to medium heat.
Add the remaining ingredients to the crock pot, layering them evenly over the meat mixture. This includes the chili beans, diced roma tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, sliced bacon, chili powder, salt, and sliced jalapenos.
Allow the stew to cook in the crock pot for at least five hours, or longer for a richer flavor. Before serving, taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt and chili powder as needed to suit your preferences.
