Ingredients

Localized ingredient list prepared for quick scanning.

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon McCormick Grill Mates Hamburger Seasoning
  • 1/3 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 lettuce leaves
  • 6 tomatoes, sliced
  • condiments

Method

Follow the steps in order for the best result.

  1. In a nonstick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and finely chopped onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms have softened, approximately 4 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and hamburger seasoning, mixing thoroughly. Divide the seasoned beef into twelve equal portions, each about 1/4 cup in size. Shape each portion into a thin, 4-inch round patty.
  3. Take six of the patties and place them on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cooled mushroom mixture onto the center of each patty. Sprinkle a portion of the shredded Swiss cheese over the mushroom mixture on each patty.
  4. Top each of the filled patties with one of the remaining hamburger patties. Pinch the edges of the patties together to seal in the mushroom and cheese filling completely. If necessary, gently flatten the stuffed burgers with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium heat. Grill the stuffed burgers for approximately 4 to 6 minutes per side, or until the burgers are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
  6. Serve the juicy, mushroom and Swiss stuffed burgers on toasted hamburger buns. Garnish with your favorite condiments and toppings, such as lettuce, tomato slices, or any other desired additions.
